The technology Ability uses to install itself and any update patches relies on Microsoft Windows Installer. The reality is that this was not really designed for internet installs and though it works for around 90% + of the time, when it fails, it's usually better to work around the problem rather than try to find the underlying reason.
There's an extra layer of complexity in installing patches, which must be installed in sequence and the original install files must correctly be identified.
If Ability Office 4 is not already installed, please follow the instructions in Knowledge Base Article 22: Zip version.
If Ability is already installed, and a patch fails or a full install from the web site fails, please follow these steps:
- Download the zip file according to the instructions in Knowledge Base Article 22: Zip version
- Uninstall existing Ability Office 4
- Re-install from the zip file
